Dr. Drew Sanderson has a Bachelor of Science degree in respiratory therapy with a minor in chemistry. He graduated from Texas State University with honors before graduating in the top 20% of his medical school class at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Immediately after completing medical school, Dr. Sanderson volunteered to serve in the United States Army Reserve and has served proudly for 18 years. His service includes one combat deployment to Iraq and achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In between that, Dr. Sanderson completed training in otolaryngology — head and neck surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery — and is currently board-certified in plastic surgery.

During his plastic surgery residency, Dr. Sanderson acquired two years of intensive plastic surgery instruction with focuses on cosmetic/aesthetic surgery, breast reconstruction, microsurgery, wound surgery, and reconstruction of defects left from skin cancer excisions. He maintains a busy plastic surgical practice but has dedicated much of his time and energy to creating and growing his Live Young Wellness Spa, core principles, and philosophy.

While serving in the U.S. Army under the scorching sun of the Iraqi desert, Dr. Sanderson saw the sun damage on his skin worsen almost daily and realized there was room for improvement when it came to skin and sun protection. While still in the combat theater, he began working on plans for his skin care line, VitalDerm™ MD.
